The last few drops of the bottle. I have had this bottle since I bought it in Boston in the fall of 2017. I got it cheaply up there and really nursed it over the last few years. Very unique to my collection and a really special treat every now and then. I had the last few drops the night before I moved back up to Boston on February 8th, 2021.
Nose: A lot brighter than I remember. While it is smokey, It has a lot of bright notes. I smell some lemon and citrus. Other than that, I smell the obvious peat smokiness. There is a lot of complexity on the nose.
Palate: The peat smoke hits immediately. I was surprised by how much sweetness I found in this dram along with the expected smokiness. There is a "meaty" flavor that is hard to describe. A bit of red meat mixed with sweat and sour flavors a la delicious smoky BBQ.
Finish: Long and lingering. It totally coats the mouth with a peaty, smoky, sweet aftertaste. There is a lack of raw bitterness that is surprising, it is quite sweet on the finish.
Overall, a really wonderful whisky experience. It is not my 100% perfect flavor profile, but the complexity and nuance is completely appreciated. It is worth getting at a bar again to remind myself of the flavors and experience, maybe not worth buying for $100 per bottle as I have seen in most liquor stores now-a-days.
