A really tasty gin. Not necessarily a “clean” taste, but it is rich and oily. It is sweet off the bat and has some light citrusy-ness. This is followed by a buttery taste and oily texture. The finish is verrrry peppery. It is very complex. I am going to try and pair it for some cocktails. Overall very complex. A lot of things going on and the flavor morphs throughout. Price point is great!

The last few drops of the bottle. I have had this bottle since I bought it in Boston in the fall of 2017. I got it cheaply up there and really nursed it over the last few years. Very unique to my collection and a really special treat every now and then. I had the last few drops the night before I moved back up to Boston on February 8th, 2021. Nose: A lot brighter than I remember. While it is smokey, It has a lot of bright notes. I smell some lemon and citrus. Other than that, I smell the obvious peat smokiness. There is a lot of complexity on the nose. Palate: The peat smoke hits immediately. I was surprised by how much sweetness I found in this dram along with the expected smokiness. There is a "meaty" flavor that is hard to describe. A bit of red meat mixed with sweat and sour flavors a la delicious smoky BBQ. Finish: Long and lingering. It totally coats the mouth with a peaty, smoky, sweet aftertaste. There is a lack of raw bitterness that is surprising, it is quite sweet on the finish. Overall, a really wonderful whisky experience. It is not my 100% perfect flavor profile, but the complexity and nuance is completely appreciated. It is worth getting at a bar again to remind myself of the flavors and experience, maybe not worth buying for $100 per bottle as I have seen in most liquor stores now-a-days.65.0 USD per Bottle

Bought from Total Wine in Santa Fe, NM, during our January trip in 2021. Polished off the bottle over the span of the month. I will probably have some nostalgia from this whiskey if I ever taste it again, which I should if I see it on a menu or at a store. Overall I really really enjoy this whiskey. It is very interesting and unique. It will add variety to a collection. I enjoyed it to start, but grew to like it more over time. It is certainly young, it has a lot of brightness. Nose: Oranges, sweetness, a little acidity. I am smelling corn (duh) and citrus. Palate: It reminds me initially of a young scotch (a la Glenglassaugh Evolution). The corn sweetness pushes through immediately afterwards. There is a subtle funk (not the right word, but it is unique) that comes through that I'd attribute to the *blue* corn. Similar notes can be tastes in blue corn chips or tortillas. Finish: Sweet corn fading to bitterness. Not an off-putting bitterness, but more of an earthy, "vegetative" bitterness. Definitely a buy again, if just for the variety and to have guests try something new.39.99 USD per Bottle
