Update: Ok after everyone trashed this I got another bottle to see if I was crazy, Well its not as good as I remembered but I still do like it slight reduction in score JWB is easily better...........79/100 blend score.... Original:I'm building appreciation for these age statement blends. Very smooth and approachable. I realize many find this bland or boring but I enjoy the simple, silky honey malt flavor. I find no rough or bitter notes whatsoever. Poured neat, noses mild sweet fruit, malt, and honey mixed together forming a singular subtle note. Creamy silky mouthfeel brings light speyside fruit with dense honeyed malt, caramel and a flash of peat. Tasty and smooth delivery without heat or harshness. Finish is medium with caramel malt, light coffee with powdered creamer and drying wood and char. I'm impressed again by a scotch blend. Feel I'm settling into the homogenized flavor and easy ride. Doesn't have the character or nuance of good single malt yet it remains appealing as liquid candy.....I expect to be thoroughly thrashed for this review but thats ok. I like Chivas..there I admit it

This is my go to blend and I would take over JWB any day. While I've expanded my palate with Single Malts I sometimes just want a good solid pour with a little smoke but nothing I want to think too much about. That's this pour for me.
"Chivas dates from back when blended scotch commanded the market and most people had never heard of Single Malt. They could get away with using a glitzy label to give an impression of prestige. That was the whole basis of their marketing campaigns. There’s nothing wrong with Chivas but it deserves no hype - it’s just a reasonable middle-weight blend but personally I’ve always thought of it as a little dull.
Awesome review! Chivas is Old Faithful for me. Can always rely on this pour when I dont know what im in the mood for. Great bottle, will always have one on my shelf.
I’d never turn down a pour, and if I didn’t have so many darn bottles already would happily have one on the shelf. Approachable and affordable. Nothing to write home about, but you also don’t have to hide the credit card charge from your significant other either, and there is definitely a place for that in the whisky world.
@Ctrexman taken for what it is, an inexpensive blend, ain’t nothing wrong with it.
@Ctrexman great review. i also like Chivas :)
This is an old review just got around to posting. I do find it interesting the amount of hate Chivas gets. Maybe cause of the past marketing portraying it as a high end whiskey(which its not). Its good for a blend imo but cannot hold a candle in the single malt world
