Aberlour A'bunadh

Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland

Reviewed October 18, 2021 (edited December 29, 2021)

4.5 out of 5 stars
Ok so Covid nose keeps me from doing many of these but let docs orders I have been nosing a peated scotch, highland scotch, a rye and a bourbon every night. The same ones every night trying to get a normal smell back. I actually think it’s slowly working. So I pulled this bottle out that I opened before covid. I won’t give nose info because it honestly just has a scotchy smell to me but that’s improvement from smelling like ass. It’s an aggressive scotch being very spicy at first sip. Alcohol comes through quickly but isn’t super harsh as I am a fan of high proof bourbon. This thing then settles into raisins and berries. It’s like a scotch smoothie with just a hint of peppery spice on the finish. Finish is very long for a scotch to me. I really like this and really really liked it pre covid. I know this review won’t help many with choice or not to buy but I really like it and I figure I might as well write about my problems in case anyone else has same issues. Cheers

"just has a scotchy smell to me but that’s improvement from smelling like ass" Sorry for your situation of course but this is a funny line

@cascode I lost taste for like a week that’s it. The weird thing was my smell came back normal than like a month later things started smelling bad. 🤷‍♂️

All the best - hope the nose comes back to full fitness. I'm guessing the sense of taste was also affected?
