Nose: so not bourbon. Fruit cake, baking spice, & dried fruit (prunes). Smells fantastic in the bottle. Opens up in a glass (as expected), but fruit cake is still front & center with a bit more vanilla. A few drops of water and it's baked goods, like a Christmas platter of baked goods! Mmmm
Palate: smooth but still feel the 100 proof. Rum finish provides little sweetness, but distinctly different from the nose. Rye spiciness is more apparent.
Finish: Medium finish with the whiskey holding on the back. The oak is much more pronounced on the finish.
Overall, very unique. Got this at Costco for $79, definitely worth it. Will try it in a Manhattan or Old Fashioned with some cherry or orange bitters.
