This has a very interesting nose. I get overwhelming piney notes with citrus, assuming from being finished with aspen staves. The nose follows through into the palate with pine, citrus, and brown sugar. The finish is sweet, but you can't shake the pine taste. I would not buy this again, I think it's best to keep Aspen and bourbon separate. This goes up there with woodford masters 17 five stout as the worst whiskey I've had.

Actually a lot better with a little water added. Regardless, was still pretty disappointed after the hype this gets and the price. That Aspen taste tends to overpower any subtlety in the whiskey.
