Let me start by saying that I am not a big scotch fan but I am trying different types to see if I can find a few to keep in my bar. Monkey Shoulder is a good blended scotch from William Grant and Sons and is a solid whiskey. On the nose, it has a soft spicey scent and a bit of ethanol. I can smell a light fruit note but I can't place it. The body is light as well and has hints of vanilla and citrus. With water, it opens up nicely but the citrus does vanish. The body is kind of short with wood notes and vanilla. As far as drinks I only make whiskey highballs and this scotch is excellent in that drink. The highball is smooth and tasty and an excellent drink. Overall, I like this scotch and will try to keep it at my bar. Enjoy.
