Nose is pleasant, but a bit weak for this whiskey. I get caramel and leather, a touch of cinnamon apples and barn hay with just a hint of chlorine. Palate brings the same with spicy black pepper. Finish lingers but is bitter, maybe bittersweet chocolate. This doesnt bring a lot of depth to me. I added ice, swirled and immediately re-tasted. It did cut the bitterness, but did the same to the good flavors. This may be me being over critical after a superb 2023, but this is probably my least favorite ECBP in the 12+/- years I've been drinking it. I really hope this is an anomoly and not the start of a trend. I've seen too many whiskies drop off with the rise in popularity. I see this is the youngest I can remember and maybe the lowest proof too? I hope ot os not a sign of things to come . First regular EC dropped the 12 year label, and not ECBP isn't even close. Fingers crossed, HH knows this is a bug let down and corrects course. Don't be the next Bookers!
