Simply Beautiful. As I mostly stick to bourbon, Redbreast is a whiskey that I often find myself going back to. I have had many of their offerings, but this takes the cake. Its a complex and beautiful nose that is much more present than in other offerings. Rich dry fruits, such as plum and apricot, with a subtle hint of spice. No peat! Upon tasting, the true nature of this whiskey comes to light. The dried fruits are still very much at play, but there is a smooth, subtle custard element that comes into play with the backing of the higher proof. Smooth and velvety, yet strong and fortified. A refreshing retreated from the overly oaky and vanilla high proof bourbons. There is character here, and a lot of it.
