Ardbeg 10 Year Cask Strength

Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

I did not expect to be able to get this bottle. But found it at binnys. Tried it with my bro on a beautiful rainy day. Nose - A quintessential ardbeg nose to begin with. But you can tell its more complex. A lot more fruit notes. Decent amount peat but its not the usual charcoal or leather peat. I personally get burnt wood type smoke. Like a fireplace that is about to go out. I do not get the usual bacon or ham notes that are common on other ardbegs. It also has such a perfumy quality. Not cheap, but like a high end fragrance, musk and so much sandalwood. If this was an actual fragrance i would wear it everyday! Palate - Get hit with a ton of sweetness. Probably the sweetest Ardbeg expression ive had. Coats the mouth really well. A mild burnt flavor, like charred fruit. A second sip just gave me so much mango and fruit sweetness. This for some reason is different than the regular ardbeg 10. Not meaty flavors, but lots of fruits, and wood. I get oakiness too. There is pepper in the backend and some grass! Wow! What a roller coaster! Loved it to the core!
