I’m really upset to say this but this is awful. I can’t believe it’s a Bowmore. If you look at my profile I rated the 12 at 5 stars. I love it. It’s delicious. I actually don’t know how to describe this dram. It just has a really off putting taste.

I figured out how to drink this. Yeti, ice, club soda. Makes it tolerable.
Wow! Glad I bought the 18 instead of this one. Both the duty free oloroso and px and the regular 18.
All the Bowmore expressions I've enjoyed have been older or high strength. 15 Darkest was so offputting to me that it actually made me lose my taste for sherry finished peated whisky for some time. There are some stunning sherry, port and wine finished smokies around, but this one is a failure.
I agree, this is really an inferior dram. Everything about it tastes artificial. Way overpriced too
@deuce26 I think Bowmore is no different than the others...they make some great ones ( like older aged or sherry matured like Devil’s Cask) , some pretty good ( 18), and some not so decent. Personally, just me and my tastes, but the only distilleries that I think have good to great across all lines is probably Lagavulin, Ardbeg, and Yamazaki.
@PBMichiganWolverine thanks for the recommendation for the 18. I will try it because I really like the 12. Absent your recommendation this bottle may have forever scared me from pulling the trigger on the 18.
@deuce26 I remember trying this at a whiskey event...was forgettable. 18 is much better.
@geert-reinalda go into with an open mind. There are a lot of whisky I like and others don’t and vise versa. Let me know what you think. It was a first dram and I’ll certainly try again because I’ve had whisky improve, but considering my initial reaction I don’t expect a reversal of my opinion. But, if it changes I’ll let you know.
@cascode yes I agree and I was shocked. Had trouble finishing the glass. And, I’ve downed some really bad stuff in my day!
@deuce26 Ah, misery loves company - I'm glad to see someone else dispises this. It's the most divisive malt I know, some love it but others hate it. There's something about it that is distrubingly like the aroma (and I presume the taste) of furniture polish. Nauseating.
Oh shit, I recently bought a bottle of this :P. I'm a bit worried now. First dram from your bottle?
