Really? People pay $200 for this stuff? I mean yea, sure, it’s good but it’s really not much more than what a $30 should be. This is why I’ve contemplated to stop drinking bourbon. This is hype at its greatest extreme. Man I hope this dumb bourbon bubble bursts. FYI I paid $29.99 through ABC Fine Wine & Spirits here in Florida. “Lucky” enough to get 2 bottles for that much.
Update 2/17/21
Okay I remember when I first opened this bottle. I was like whoa that’s smooth and somewhat flavorful hence the original 4 star rating. I’ve since gone back to this bottle over and over and no matter how I drink it I cannot like it like the first time I had it. I sold the second bottle I was “lucky” enough to get for an obscene amount of money for what this stuff is. I now use it as a showpiece to impress bourbon friends who drool over Weller products. Just not that good to me. Sorry if I hurt anyone’s feeling here but this is an “average at best” bottle of whiskey.

I really hope you're right about most people being afraid of 50% ABV and up @Bourbon_Obsessed_Lexington There are a couple of bottles (they're WT RB 116 and JD SiB BP, but shhhhhh don't tell anyone!) that I'm worried might get discovered because they're fantastic values.
You absolutely nailed my thoughts on this one @BDanner
@QuinnDEskimo my guess would be the “could easily drink too much of this stuff” factor, more approachable to a crowd that would shy away from BiB or anything above 100 but don’t want to drink Basil Hayden and haven’t discovered Michters sour mash and the like
@BDanner I agree completely. There are plenty of items on the shelf that are readily available. ABC (non-state related) here in FL has a program that allows “gold key” members to purchase various allocated items at MSRP. My last purchase was an Elmer T Lee which I haven’t opened yet though I could have purchased a Pappy Van Winkle for $75 among a bunch of other allocated bottles at cost. I just don’t understand the hype of one bourbon to another. Sure some are great/good but nothing has been worth paying some of the obscene prices that people pay.
Congratulations on that find. I’m with you. It’s very good, but it’s a very good $40 bottle. I’ve lucked into 2 bottles in the last 6 years. If I never luck into another bottle at MSRP, I’m good with that. I won’t be paying secondary for it.
I’ll add that this is exceptionally smooth and this is certainly one that you could very easily find yourself drinking too much of in one sitting.
