    10 Chairman's Reserve Rum Original
    82
    Sweet & Fruity
Chairman's Reserve, born in 1999, is named for St. Lucia Distillers' then chairman Laurie Barnard, who created a blend made from both pot and continuous still rums. The rums are first matured for 9 months in new American oak, then aged separately in ex-bourbon casks hailing from Jim Beam and Buffalo Trace as well as ex-Tennessee whiskey casks from Jack Daniels. They are then blended together and given an additional 6 months to mingle in cask before bottling. There is no official age statement, though the youngest rums are at least 5 years old. Note: Formerly called Chairman's Reserve Finest Blended Rum.

8 Ron Botran 8 Añejo Rum
    84
    Rich & Spicy
The blenders at Ron Botran utilize a version of the old winemaking technique known as a solera meant to harness the freshness of young spirits in conjunction with the depth and complexity of old. However, unlike in a true solera where the old and new are blended together for inception, here the rums are aged separately then blended and aged together as a final step. The rums used in this expression range from between 5 and 14 years and are aged in a combination of American whiskey, sherry and port barrels. It should also be noted that the rums are distilled from fresh sugarcane honey and not molasses.

    Rich & Roast
Rapidly growing Dominican Republic brand Ron Barceló produces rums they distill from 100% Dominican sugar cane juice.
