Nose: Rye spice, underlying vanilla, sweet subtle oak, stone fruit. Palate: first thing that hits is the peppery note from the rye, then a red fruit sweetness, light sugar syrup, and a touch of oak. Finish: big cherry note on the finish with a warm lingering spice (more pepper than baking spice). Overall: A decent pour, but probably wouldn’t buy again. The spice isn’t overwhelming, but I wish there was more richness to balance it out like caramel/vanilla notes or nuttiness. Rating: 6.7/10

Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Proof Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed September 14, 2021 (edited October 27, 2021)Nose: Big, ripe bananas are the first thing that come through on the nose. Banana bread, banana pudding, banana runts, anything that involves sweets and bananas can be found in the best way in this whiskey. A wonderful rich caramel and maple note can be found underneath the fruity notes. There’s a peppery oak and heat on the nose as well. Palate: Heat is the first thing that hits from the high ABV, but behind it we find the nose matches the palate. The palate actually outdoes the nose here with SUPER flavorful bananas bread covered in burnt caramel sauce, banana pudding, Nilla wafers, and a finish of sugar maple wood and black pepper. Very oily and palate coating! Over all: This is a FANTASTIC whiskey at a great price. The density of flavor is through the roof and you don’t have to search for anything as it jumps out of the glass and explodes on the palate. I will always keep a bottle of this stuff on hand. One of my favorite whiskeys, and the best part is you can find it just about anywhere. Rating: 8.9/10 -
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed September 14, 2021 (edited September 16, 2021)Nose: Sweet as can be! Deep butterscotch notes, maple syrup, butter covered waffles, and a slight milk chocolate all encompassed by a lingering oak note. Reminds me of a sugary breakfast. Palate: Very buttery, sugar sweet on the front of the palate. Butterscotch explodes out of this whiskey. Mid palate is where the butterscotch fades and you pick up some of the syrup drenched waffle notes, a vanilla custard, and finally the finish is a very light black pepper with a hint of oak and chocolate. On the lighter side of viscosity. Overall: Good but not great. It’s VERY sweet which has a place, but it’s a little heavy on the butterscotch for my taste. If you’re looking for something to give you a sugar rush, this might be your whiskey. -
Michter's US*1 American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — USA
Reviewed September 14, 2021 (edited October 24, 2021)Nose: Very corn forward. There’s an underlying creaminess that is nice, followed by corn cereal sweetness reminiscent of Frosted Flakes, whipping cream, powdered sugar, milk chocolate. Very soft nose, not a ton of flavor punch. Palate: Sugar sweetness hits the front of the front of the palate, then dissipates to more of a dense vanilla cream. Hints of coffee bean come with the mid palate, like a vanilla latte and the finish is somewhat flat in my opinion. Not super oily, but also wouldn’t consider it to be thin. Overall: Very approachable, soft whiskey with loads of vanilla and cream. Nothing that will blow you away with huge flavor or complexity, but a good pour all the same. -
Kentucky Owl Bourbon (Batch #10)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed July 31, 2021 (edited January 29, 2022)Nose: instantly you get sweet oak, rich caramel, vanilla, buttery pie crust, blueberry pastry, cinnamon rolls, subtle red fruits, and a touch of barrel char. Palate: super oily. Front palate isn’t so much sweet as it is buttery and rich. Caramel apple pie is what comes to mind first, then maple syrup, and buttery monkey bread. Milk chocolate, creamy vanilla ice cream, and subtle fruity notes on the mid palate. The finish is toasted oak and beautiful cinnamon and it goes forever.299.0 USD per Bottle
