Tastes

At first appearance MWND seems to have a golden amber color. Similar to the color of the Jurassic Park Dino DNA mosquito-cain. The general aroma consists of spice, sweet butter cream (think morning breakfast griddle) with a very light hint of alcohol. After my first taste clear hints of clove, butter, leather and rich dark fruit. However, as you let the flavors dance it would seem that the finish just simply isn’t as long as one would like, great dram just wish it would last longer on the tongue.

The nose is grassy and sweet the initial sip is oily but not heavy with warm baking spice and sweetness. The second sip opens up a wider menu of flavor sweet caramel and dried fruit / sour cherries. The finish is big bold oak and light smoke. Really tastes older than it is. Delicious bottle.

Floral (think wedding or funeral home) with light apricot. The mouth feel is incredible, covers your entire mouth with cream soda and baking spice finishing with a sadistic peppery finish that calls to you to have another go. For the price and the age this is a great drinking rye. A+

Neck pour, tight nose. Initial sip a wispy flirt of butterscotch / almost butter cream (not as much caramel or molasses). It dances with a hint of herbal summer grass with a wonderfully satisfying long cinnamon finish.

Leather and Chocolate on the nose oily with hints of chocolate, butterscotch, vanilla, tobacco and toasted oak.

Floral with a light toasted oak note on the nose. Initial sip has hints of fig, baking spice with a pepper/evergreen finish. The second sip has dark fruit cherries and cinnamon with an oily mouth feel

Leather / Pipe Tobacco notes on the nose, hot tamales / Altoids Cinnamon light visceral mouth feel with a long heavy big red gum finish. Delightful, delicious and satisfying great overall expression.

Nose is sweet with notes or oak. The initial sip is a flavor bomb! It’s a combo of floral, sweet and tannic all at the same time. The mouth feel is less oily and More visceral reminds me more of an Irish whiskey. This is a combo of what would happen if green spot and stagg jr had a baby. A+ experience if you like complexity in you whiskey.

Nose is similar to that of standard Stranahans with vanilla and smoke. Vanilla, clove, wild flowers to a earthly finish A+
