George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed October 6, 2021 (edited November 11, 2021)Cinnamon on the nose, initial mouth feel is oily and satisfying. Semi-Bright heat but not sure if it’s alcohol or the Big Red flavor that lands dead center on your tongue. The finish is enjoyable but the entire flavor profile is pretty one dimensional. -
Four Roses Private Selection Single Barrel Barrel Strength Bourbon (OBSF)
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed October 6, 2021Super tight nose, heavy alcohol boarder line Windex. After letting the pour sit a little while starting to get hints of cream soda / vanilla. The first sip yields a thin viscosity with most of the flavor notes hitting the front and back of the mouth. Cream soda with notes of sour apple and black cherry with sweet notes on the satisfying finish. However after half a dram the alcohol heat still comes in bright every time and while this is 114 proof there are other single barrels that are stronger and less continuously bright. -
Ransom The Emerald 1865 Straight American Whiskey
Other Whiskey — Oregon, USA
Reviewed October 6, 2021 (edited November 18, 2021)The nose reminds me of a malted barley scotch, with a more medicinal than peat smell. The mouth feel is light and airy with a nice herbal scotch flavor, again no smoke no peat. Earthy! The finish is long with a combination of birthday cake and baking spice. -
Jefferson's Ocean Aged at Sea Voyage 17
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed September 9, 2021 (edited June 16, 2023)Very tight nose, no hint of alcohol maybe a light touch of hay or fresh cut grass. First sip, a very distinct hint of salt with butterscotch and clover. The finish hits smack dab in the center of your tongue with a salty / savory morsel effect like when you suck the salt off a warm pretzel. This pour surprised me on the pallet with the spectacular spectacle of different flavors at play. -
