Single Malt — Islay, Scotland

Amber color, clear, and viscous. Nose is powerful, loaded with peat, iodine, and brine, salty, medicinal, yet round. After the first impression, notes of tobacco and black pepper start to appear. Palate is dominated with umami, full body, rich, almost chewy. Smoke is that of a campfire, with salty notes. Aftertaste is long, dominated by peat and salt, finishing with medicinal and iodine notes. A few drops of water mute the peat and give rise to more floral and fruit notes, an almost Sherry-like aftertones on the nose. Palate is still very much peaty and medicinal, but gains some lemon character. Overall, an excellent complex, mature whiskey for peat lovers.

Golden color, clear, with high viscosity. Nose is delicate, with no smoke, and aromas of honey, butter scotch, raisins, vanilla, and dried fruit. Palate is rich and round, dominated by sweetness, with full body, and a creamy, velvety texture. Finish is rather short, but very pleasant and light, with a hint of meadow flowers. Doesn't need water as it's fully opened right out of the bottle. Overall, an excellent expression of a very fine brand.

Color is pale yellow. On the nose barley, fruit, some citrus notes. Pallet is rather shallow, with oaky tones mingled with light fruit. Finish is short with some bitter notes, nuts, and oak. A few drops of water makes it somewhat smoother, but cannot fix the immaturity of this whisky. Seems like it has an excellent potential, but 8 years is not enough to reveal it. Overall not a bad drink, but definitely lacks complexity of more mature drams.

Beautiful golden color. On the nose complex combination of flowers, citrus fruit and honey, and a hint of oak, caramel, and brown sugar. Pallet is rich and round, with dominating citrus and fruits, followed by vanilla and oak. Aftertaste is long with mostly oak and vanilla. A few drops of water open fruit and citrus notes, while aftertaste develops more caramel and chocolate flavors. Excellent well rounded whiskey, greatly enjoyable and complex enough to continue finding new flavors with each sip.

Beautiful golden color. Nose is rich with oak, vanilla, sweet fruit and caramel notes. Pallet is complex with dried fruit, honey, nuts, more oak, and vanilla flavors. Aftertaste is long with hints of peach, raisins, Sherry, and citrus. A few drops of water opens up more fruit on the nose, and even further rounds the pallet. Overall complex, rich, fruit-dominated character, with nice 18-year old smoothness and clear oak notes from the cask.

Nose is delicate, light smoke and hints of caramel. A hint of salt on the nose. Pallet is rich with complex interplay of peat, meadow flowers, caramel, and a hint of citrus. Aftertaste is long with floral notes and smoke. A few drops of water opens more floral notes on the nose and round the pallet. Very smooth and greatly enjoyable. Too bad they don't make more of it...
