Black Saddle Bourbon 12 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky (bottled in California), USA
Reviewed December 31, 2020 (edited September 6, 2022)On the nose, caramel, orange and cream. Very sweet and inviting. On the tongue, tangy, keeping with the orange on the nose. Floral, leafy (maybe tea leaves). A little smoky, but not as woody as I would expect from a 12 year. A little thin on the finish. Generally pleasant, but not my favorite. -
New Riff 4 Year Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 29, 2020 (edited December 25, 2020)On the nose, this one was very simple. Pretty much honey and vanilla, but also a little citrus zest. On the palate, I got a good amount of alcohol burn, but what followed was bubble gum, black pepper and a little leather. Overall the flavors were harmonious and really played well in the long finish. Very enjoyable and would love to see this offering aged up to see what else it would pick up. -
