Elijah Craig Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 10, 2021 (edited October 11, 2021)Really enjoyed Elijah Craig tonight. On the nose it is sweet and light. I got a cream soda note for a moment. Very nice vanilla and caramel flavors. I would get some bright fruits on half the tastings. Not spicy on the finish which I appreciated after venturing into rye the other night. I may have found another favorite to keep stocked. -
WhistlePig 6 Year PiggyBack Rye
Rye — (bottled in) Vermont, Canada
Reviewed October 8, 2021 (edited October 11, 2021)I really wanted to score this higher but I can’t. It’s really well balanced and made. This was my first experience with a rye. I’ve had some bourbons that that was the second part of the mash bill but not the first. This one took lots of exploring. Very vanilla forward on the nose. I got the apple on the taste and the cinnamon peppery feel on the finish. On about the 3rd or 4th taste I got a little black licorice. Overall though very balanced and mild. I read this was designed to be a mixer and I can see that. It’s a good whiskey but doesn’t stand up on its own very well. -
I now get what all of the hype is about. Wonderful nose of caramel almost like soft caramel candies. The taste really comes through with caramel, vanilla and creamy notes. I tried to open it up with a few drops of water but may have gotten a little too much. I got a butter candy note but that was about it. Looking forward to stocking this one as a regular sipper and mixer.

Being my second Irish after Jameson I noticed the similarities. Very strong pear note on the nose and a little honey and vanilla. The taste is straight forward with pear and green apple. On the finish I get vanilla and honey sweetness to go with the buttery oil from the pot still portion of the blend. There is some cinnamon spice as well. Very pleasant and simple in a nice way. Good on its own or as a mixer.13.99 USD per Bottle

My first impression was candy corn at Halloween time. I also got the banana note which is interesting in a whiskey. Next I noticed a little familiar vanilla and barrel note. On the taste very sweet. Lots of candy corn and artificial banana. There’s a little spice on the finish. Overall pretty good for a budget that is good enough neat and as a mixer.

Get the vanilla and corn on the nose. After a couple drops of water and searching I found a little burnt sugar like creme brûlée. On the taste I get creme style corn, vanilla, and caramel syrup. There was a little extra rye spice on the finish than a typical bourbon. After the few drops of water the spice and rye comes through more. Overall this is a fine bourbon but not adventurous.

This one was hard for me. On the nose all I got was the grapes from the white wine. As I put the glass up for my first sip, I started getting the fruit nose. It was sparkly so I can see peach or apricot. On the taste the fruit comes through. The finish has a honey sweetness and oil. There is a little cinnamon spice as well on the tongue. It is an interesting dram but I think best if you like white dessert wines.

Glenmorangie Lasanta Sherry Cask Finish 12 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed February 8, 2021 (edited June 23, 2021)I get the raisin on the nose. The finish is full of spice. I got nutmeg and cinnamon. I also had caramel and nuttiness on the taste. The combination made me think of pralines.
