Jim Beam Signature Craft 12 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 27, 2019 (edited July 5, 2019)I'm surprised to hear they stopped making this. It's so good. Finally finishing off a bottle I've had. Nose: It smells like beam. Oak, Char, and a hint of Caramel. A little sweeter than your standard beam. Tongue: This isn't your grandpa's beam. It's more complex, so smooth. Hints of Caramel and vanilla are quickly overtaken by the oak char. Not overly spicy, and a sweet note. It really good. Finish: I don't get a lot of burn, which is good for me. It leaves a nice oaky taste, but not oily. It quickly disappears making you want another drink. If you get a chance, definitely have a little, it's well worth it. I have enjoyed it quite a bit. -
Don Julio Añejo Tequila
Tequila Añejo — Los Altos, Jalisco, Mexico
Reviewed March 18, 2019 (edited March 24, 2019)Again, I step out of my bourbon realm for some tequila. Nose: I pick up hints of vanilla and agave. No harsh alcohol smells. Very nice. Tongue: Wow, I was surprised how nice this was. Not a rough tequila at all. nice taste of agave, and a little woody, but in a good way. Smoothest tequila I've ever drank. Finish: The finish was quick, but left the tequila taste just long enough to make me want more. No burn at all. I think I found a very drinkable tequila. Definitely is my favorite at the moment. I'm not a tequila person, especially straight up neat, but I may be keep some of this on hand for an occasional drink. -
A friend had some of this he bought for margaritas. I figured, Let's give it a review. Nose: I'm dead serious when I say it has hints of vomit and cheap beer. I promise, I'm not making a joke. Tongue: This is not tequila. It has no tequila flavor. I don't know what flavor it has, it's unlike anything I've ever had, and unfortunately, it's not good. It's tolarable in a mixed drink, but straight, forget about it. I honestly can't find anything good to say. Finish: Yeah, I'm finished. Never again. Oily after taste with hits of fermented wheat. (Not sure where that comes from). This is a terrible choice of tequila. I've never heard of it before tonight, and if Indie, and never consume another drop, I'll die happy.13.0 USD per BottleColumbus

If heaven could be bottled, This is it. Nose: Woody with hints of caramel and vanilla. Not harsh at all. I get a floral hint occasionally, reminds me of honeysuckle. Tongue: The perfect amount of flavors. A little wood, A little vanilla, and that honeysuckle comes through. The burn is there, but just enough to remind you that this is whiskey. So smooth, easily drinkable neat. Adding a few drops of water seems to open the floral tastes, and the caramel. Finish: Such a great after taste, Makes you want more. Leaves the flavors tasted lingering with a slightly oily feel on your tongue. This is one of the very few I rated above 4.0, and it's well deserved.

Maker's Mark Cask Strength
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2019 (edited January 2, 2019)Nose: Sweet caramel, Spice, mostly pleasant. Tongue: For a wheated bourbon, I get none of that sweetness you get with most wheated Bourbons, but it's a bit spicey. This is 110.9 proof, very woody, very leathery, very good. Finish: It leaves a little burn on the tongue, but not much of an after taste. A little water or ice seems to bring out some wood flavors, and a little sweetness. -
Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 1, 2019 (edited January 2, 2019)I had tried this many years ago, and couldn't understand how it was so highly rated. Maybe my tastes weren't matured, so we'll give it another go. Cracking open a bottle now. Date code starts with 18311. Nose: At first I got nothing but rubbing alcohol, but the aromas came alive after sitting for a few seconds. Nice and woody, still a little rough, reminds me of the insides of a rick house. I'm not pulling a ton of individual aroma, but that wood smells good. Tounge: I was hoping for something woody, but I'm getting hit with memories of my last tasting. The alcohol hits hard, very medicinal, I get some hints of wood, but it's hard to swallow. Burns going down, very spicy. Finish: Although I'm thinking I'm still not a fan, the after taste is quite pleasant. it leaves a nice smoky wood flavor, that lingers for a while. This alone may make it worth an occasional drink. Adding a few drops of water does wake it up, and makes it a bit more manageable on the tongue. Overall, I'm still not a big fan, maybe I'm just not one who has a taste for this level of spicy. -
Kill Devil Rum with Pecans & Honey
Flavored Rum — North Carolina, USA
Reviewed December 25, 2018 (edited January 2, 2019)On the nose the pecans taken over, and made me think this wasn't going to be very good, but once I took a taste, I was pleasantly surprised. I taste the rum, and honey, then get a nice hit from the pecans that leave a nice after taste. I feel this would be a great mixer as well, though I have yet to try that.
