Old Crow Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — USA
Reviewed February 22, 2022 (edited October 17, 2024)Bought it as a sincere gag gift for a friend during the pandemic - he’s a historian, so I dropped off a flask of this and an invitation for a FaceTime call to discuss the merits of Ulysses S. Grant while my friend was quarantined. Bad whiskey, but better than expected. It’s easy enough to drink. Not a rot gut whiskey, but not one to get excited over either. But the whiskey wasn’t really the point. Like Grant said - “The friend in my adversity I will always cherish most” Excellent conversation. Good memory. -
Jack Daniel's Tennessee Straight Rye
Rye — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 22, 2022 (edited November 15, 2024)Good winter whiskey. There’s some spice to it, and very smooth. Great one for a cold day. Next time a snow storm is coming, go to the liquor store and the grocery store the day before. Get a bottle of this, two days worth of hearty meals, and invite a friend to spend the night. Drink it neat and enjoy! -
Nelson's Green Brier Tennessee Whiskey
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee , USA
Reviewed February 14, 2022 (edited August 5, 2022)This is a spicy whiskey, that is good for the winter months. It’s good neat, and better over stones, but it’s best in a warm winter cocktail. Try making some cinnamon spice tea and mixing a shot of this with it. Add sugar (to taste, and don’t be shy - it’s intense) and enjoy watching the snow fall; merry Christmas! -
Four Roses Yellow Label Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 18, 2021 (edited January 22, 2022)Goes GREAT in whiskey sour! If drinking it straight, on ice is definitely better than neat. -
Uncle Nearest 1884 Small Batch Whiskey (Sourced Whiskey)
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed October 31, 2021Leaves a burn, but not a this-whiskey-wasn’t-aged-long-enough burn, more like an I’m-so-glad-I’m-tasting-this kind of a burn. Sip it neat; this is a great Tennessee whiskey that is meant to be savored. Read the story, and enjoy with friends. This one tastes best with conversation.43.0 USD per Bottle -
Evan Williams 1783 Small Batch Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 1, 2021 (edited November 4, 2021)One of the best bourbons I’ve ever had. Drink it straight up - no cocktail will taste as good as this already does. Use whiskey stones for this one, not ice, if you want it chilled. Perfect for a Friday afternoon in the fall after a long week at work. -
This just might be the best bourbon I’ve ever had. So smooth it’s hard to believe. Very sweet bourbon. Almost as sweet as Maker’s Mark. Be careful with this one - next thing you know half the bottle is gone. This is for a Friday night when you’ve had a long week at work, but you still cooked a fantastic dinner. Drink it neat after your meal with one or two friends over, because you did a good job this week.
