Tastes

Distilled in June 2007, bottled in March 2019. One of 405 bottles of the one-refill hogshead REF-DL13163. Unchillfiltered and no colouring. N 21, P 19, F21, B20. Straw colour in a glass. Prominent vanilla on the nose and ripe fruits in the background. A little bity taste with sun-dried fruits and custard cream.

Russetmuscat colour. N: 23, P: 21, F: 21, B: 21. Interesting whisky with aromas of toffee, vanilla and sea breeze. Fruity taste with alcohol tang. Liked this one very much.

Pale gold colour. N22, P18, F19, B17. Very delicate aroma with vanilla, chamomile, apricot on the nose. Hot with alcohol and slightly spicy without adding water. Strange but it gets even harsher with water.

Maize corn colour. N:20, P:20, F:20, B:20. An impeccably balanced whisky and quite interesting too. Flavours of toffee, slight gasoline, machine oil, ripe fruit, ginger. The taste is slightly on the sweeter side. Yammy!

Pale gold colour. N:8, P:10, F:8, B:8 This is pretty awful. Smells like a dangerous liquid with chemical additives. Taste is only slightly better but still unpleasant. Good that it was only a 180 ml bottle and I didn't pay for it. Undrinkable.

Pale gold colour. N:16, P:16, F:16, B:16. The is quite weak, predominantly floral, at times improving to slight sea breeze. The taste is slightly fruity and noticeably thin. Unremarkable but acceptable for every day use.

Pale straw colour. N:20, P:18, F:19, B:18. Slight ointment and peat on the nose. Soft but unremarkable taste with a mild sting of alcohol.

Individual batch # 0308. Funny but on the pictures on the Tamnavullin's website they also show this batch. Can it be that it's the only batch they produced?) Amber colour. N:19, P:18, F:18, B:17. Mostly wood and oak on the nose. Gasoline and varnish notes come later too. The taste is soft but also rather thin.

Maize corn colour. N 18, P16, F 17, B 17. Below average. The aromas are more like the ones you get in carpenter's workshop - varnish, solvent and paint. The taste is pretty harsh and burns with alcohol. Brought no pleasure.

Presumably this is a side product of Cooley Distillery. Amber colour. N 12, P 9, F 10, B 10. Frankly speaking this is awful all around. It has ABV 35%, which is I'm not even sure is acceptable for whisky. Some vanilla aromas are overwhelmed by the much stronger smell of alcohol and varnish. Harsh and acrid taste. Tried to drink it twice and got heartburn within half an hour both times. Avoid.
