Holladay 6 Year Soft Red Wheat Rickhouse Proof Bourbon
Bourbon — Missouri , USA
Reviewed October 2, 2024This is a *warm* bourbon. Right from the getgo you feel a ton of baking spices, warmth, and smoothness despite the higher proof. Some vegetal and grassy notes on the exhale, but all around tasty. -
A pleasantly orange-y aroma on the nose. Very fragrant with a touch of sweetness. Smooth thanks to a good aging time. Lightly grassy and vegetal profile due to aging in tequila barrels, but distinctly “whiskey”-y to stand out from that. Very warm with elements of classic baking spices/cinnamon. Probably not worth the price but quite tasty.

So apparently this legally is not “rum,” and-in fact-the label does not indicate as such (don’t let the “Bumbu Rum Co.” confuse you). By what little research i did, this is technically… something, just not rum. That aside, this goes great in certain cocktails. Really sugary, with hefty amounts of banana and molasses notes. Great with fig and lime. Super strong vanilla aroma, almost like a bake shop-turned-perfumery.
