Connemara Original Peated Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed May 6, 2021 (edited May 22, 2021)All the classic Irish whiskey taste with a subtle, smoked finish. A touch sweeter than most Irish I've tried, Heather honey in particular shines through. Really smooth and easy sipping, the smoke brings an interesting edge. Not brash or dominating, just lingers on the palate. Yeah this is actually really good ππ»35.0 GBP per Bottle -
Appearance is quite light and pale. Nose is all smoke, bonfire and a little cigar. Some brine in there too. Taste is sweet upfront with honey and bourbon π followed by that campfire smoke. Lovely blend of sweet and smoke. This is so good. The benchmark core range islay whisky π37.0 GBP per Bottle

Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 6, 2021 (edited April 11, 2021)Can't get on with the nose on this, reminds me of car sickness and vomit! π€·ββοΈ Taste is much better thankfully π its bright, young and lively. Sweet malted barley and crisp π. Hints of sea air and brine. Really light and tingles the taste buds. 50% abv but drinks so much lighter, just a lovely little tingle of heat. Love what these guys are doing by being so open with ingredients and recipes. A whisky to really enjoy and pick apart the ingredients40.0 GBP per Bottle -
Balvenie DoubleWood 17 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 14, 2021 (edited April 11, 2021)Sherry is less intense than the 12. This is a more subtle and rounded version. Smooth and easy drinking, this is at the other end of the scale to the 12. Both are equally good for me but for totally different reasons. 12 is intense, sweet sticky honey and Sherry, this is subtle and beautifully balanced. -
Balvenie Doublewood 12 Year
Single Malt — Speyside, Scotland
Reviewed February 12, 2021 (edited April 11, 2021)The Sherry is big on the nose, all the fruity raisins with a touch of honey. Taste is sweet and sticky π all that honey Sherry up front with an oak finish. -
Ardbeg Wee Beastie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed February 5, 2021 (edited February 27, 2021)The nose is wonderful on this. Smoky, earthy, meaty with some sweetness in there too. Taste is a lovely mix of sweet, dark fruits and smoked π π₯ π₯© like drinking Sherry with bbq! Slightly fiery, spicy finish. Definitely tastes like young whisky, its lively and raw, not as well balanced as older whisky. It certainly packs a punch at 47.4%! And they haven't compromised on flavour. Its all the tastes you want from an ardbeg in all its raw glory. -
