Tastes

Nose: nuts, a touch of caramel and a noticeable influence of the sherry (but not too much). Some oak as well. Mouth: Punchy and powerful. The 58% is felt but is not overpowering either. Not very sweet and quite malty. Spicy as well Medium to long spicy and warm finish

Quite an aggressive nose that fools you for a younger and more alcoholic whisky. Green and fruity, this one has a very marked pear taste. Spicy but not overly so. Medium to long finish with a tad too much burn for my liking.

Good whisky taste better with friends. Tried at a boardgame night with 4 colleagues from work. Oban's little bay is a good entry to a maritime and salty whisky with a touch of smoke. The virgin wood and it's oak influence is well mixed with the salty character of the whisky. A bit short on the finish and a not overly complex nose or palate. Yet, it does a good job and is a good entry whisky for those wanting some salty, maritime and a bit peaty drink.

Easy to drink and well balanced. A bit too thin due to the 40% ABV.
