Glenallachie 10 Year Cask Strength Batch 3
Single Malt — Speyside , Scotland
Reviewed December 2, 2020 (edited February 5, 2021)Nose: Beautiful and complex notes. Oranges peel, citrus and mint (the box claims it is eucalyptus), and clear oak and sherry influence. I noticed also the lack of sulphur (a positive in my book, even if I like Mortlach too). In mouth: very oily and creamy. Even despite the high ABV the alcohol is not aggressive. Lots of orange peel, spice and dark fruits. Finish: medium to long (but not too long) where the spices give way to a minty and fresh note that expands and growths in your palate. -
Glen Scotia Victoriana Cask Strength
Single Malt — Campbeltown, Scotland
Reviewed October 4, 2020 (edited November 2, 2020)This is a complex, interesting and also evolving whisky. Let it sit on your glass for a good while to let it develop it's aromas and flavours. Complex, with a bourbon and vanilla nose as you add water. Dark sugar, some Sherry notes, slightly maritime and also fresh. Round and oily in mouth. Despite the very high ABV it has little burn and rather an explosion of flavours. Long and spicy finish that shows a bit of sweet and salty character. Very good stuff. -
