Old Forester Birthday Bourbon 2018
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed August 11, 2019 (edited September 16, 2020)Somehow this bottle is still on the wall. Still my all time favorite (granted I have more scotch experience). Tons of vanilla. Super smooth with no burn. Tough on the wallet but it’s great25.0 USD per Pour -

George Dickel Barrel Select
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed August 3, 2019 (edited December 25, 2019)REALLY enjoyed this and I was totally sober at the time. Sorry but I’m at a whiskey festival so thought it was relevant -
First of all...shit I forgot to note which staves were in this one. I’ll try and update later. Thanks Seth! It was quite hot (alcohol burn) and spicy tasting. It was probably the best maker’s I’ve ever had tho. Wouldn’t pick this over a basic Islay scotch or a bottle of Blantons but it’s better than most of the bourbon I’ve had.

Celebrated National Bourbon Day with this and forgot to post. I try to not read reviews until after I’ve first tried something so I can have my own opinions but on this one I wish I had. Unless it’s a cocktail I almost always enjoy neat. Whether it’s cask strength or bourbon cream, I figure if they felt it needed water they would have added it. This is a vanilla bomb but it’s also very hot. Too much so IMO. I added a little water for my last couple sips and it was much better. I got more caramel and burnt sugar where before it was all just burn. If I had read reviews I may have used a little ice or a whiskey stone to at least bring the temp down but I didn’t. I will next time and adjust accordingly. Either way...enjoy! By the way, this is the vaunted GC version of this. If you don’t know what I’m talking about google it. It’s supposed to be a rare breed within the rare breed section48.0 USD per Bottle
