Far north is one of the best small distilleries in America. Gin, rum, whiskey and in particular for this review- Minnesota Rye - all are tip f’n top. Smokey, caramel, with the right rye bite but not medicinal like I find some of the more “popular” ryes on here. If you can find it, give it a shot. No regrets.

Hands down my go to Rye. Have not had the pleasure of sampling the other takes from this distiller yet, but I dig what they brew. Other comments in taste are accurate and I would add a smoky hint which makes me love it more. I am not understanding the odd ball comments - it’s not a traditional rye, get Bulleit if you want that crap.

I’m not a traditional gin drinker so keep that in mind when reading this review. I do not add anything to my gin, not even ice cubes. I drink it neat with a steel frozen ball. This gin is outstanding for sipping straight. Needs nothing. So many awesome flavors. Floral, citrus, some vegetable:herbal qualities. And it looks cool as hell. This distillery has it going on. Roknar (their rye) is also tip f’n top.

Uncle Val's Botanical Gin
Distilled Gin — California, USA
Reviewed April 15, 2018 (edited March 3, 2020)This was a departure in gin for me. I love a juniper heavy gin as much as the next bloke but this is definitely lemon forward and a nice addition when I want a gin that isn’t so... ginny. Feel me? -
Colkegan Single Malt Whiskey
American Single Malt — New Mexico, USA
Reviewed April 4, 2018 (edited April 15, 2018)This tasty little gym and gives the boys across the pond a run for their money. It is not a bourbon it is not an American whiskey it is something of its own quasi-scotch American tastiness that delivers on every single spectrum that I love about a true scotch style whiskey. Cheers -
