Evan Williams White Label Bottled in Bond Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed March 5, 2020 (edited April 17, 2020)So the burn on this baby is really off the charts: no surprise at 100 proof. My nose-hairs are singed. The government-supervised corn kernels are very prevalent, as they trail the jet stream of fusels, in the nose and on the palate. A touch of honey. Molasses and Sugar Babies, if you're old enough to remember those. There is some cinnamon on the back end that keeps coming in the finish. You get every inch of that 50% abv and it don't treat you gentle. Even diluting it doesn't really put out the four-alarm fire, but it's a rich-man's fireball at the end if you can wait it out. It would go great with a stick of Big Red. I'm not sure this one is for me but I don't dislike it.18.99 USD per BottleShop City Wine & Liquors Inc -
Pure candi sugar at first. Sherry and only mild smoke. The sweetness blunts the heat. Spicy second wave, like orange rock candy. Some oaky finished wood at the end. I have a feeling this would be a fine gateway for those into sweeter liqueur flavors and less peat. It's not quite in my Q-zone but I do enjoy it okay.12.0 USD per PourKitty Hoyne's Irish Pub

I believe this is the same as Yellow Label? The nose had a distinct burn that honestly got me a little light headed. Flavor is distinct corn syrup, mild charcoal. A droplet reveals some spicy flowers and pollen. The char blossoms with dilution, followed by finished oak. Toffee and brown sugar round out in the second wave. Leaves a dry, chalky finish.21.99 USD per BottleBostwick Liquors, Inc.

George Dickel No. 8
Tennessee Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed March 1, 2020 (edited November 21, 2020)The charred oak is what stands out to me with this one, along with mellow toffee, molasses, and vanilla. I'm new to Bourbon but this is one that I am going to return to. -

Drinking this neat was tough for me, because there is a combo of big rubbing alcohol burn, plus the presence of bing cherries, port wine and sugary sweetness. I diluted it more than normal, due to its 43% nail polish remover burn. The vanilla creme busts out, and the burn is milder but it's not gone. The peat finally pokes its head out with enough dilution, but it's mild and pleasant. RECOMMENDED, with a big cube: the smoke finally emerges from the shadow of the fire. The creamy vanilla, lemon drop, toffee and cherry really bloom. Some charcoal, tobacco ash and leather also burst out this way. It definitely has a creamier quality to it once you tamp down those fusels. A bit of oak. I will try drinking this neat again later but it's not gonna be easy.36.0 USD per BottleHarbor View Wine and Liquors

Connemara 12 Year Peated Single Malt
Single Malt — Ireland
Reviewed February 23, 2020 (edited July 22, 2020)The peat absolutely works in this. The smoke elevates it. After a droplet, potpourri and dry leaves bust out. Mild honey. Some heat and cut tobacco in the finish, with just a touch of that smoked meat. Continues to be a favorite as the wonderful Frankenstein's monster that it is.Bull & Bear Roadhouse
