Elmer T. Lee Single Barrel Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2016 (edited December 30, 2016)This hard to find bourbon is just awesome. Had a pour at Doe's eat place, Monroe, LA and had to go back for another! The Beer Hut Mandeville $27 I was having dinner with a good friend who is a diehard Maker's drinker. (Great bourbon btw) After one sip of ETL and he had to go to the bar and take a pick of the bottle! Super smooth, loads of vanilla, great color, good long finish. As it turns out this bourbon has just hit the shelves for 2016 and my son found a bottle somewhere in AL. Can't wait to crack this open! $90 Colonial, Little Rock AR, $50 Destin Florida area, &90 -
Booker's Bourbon Batch 2016-02 "Annis' Answer"
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed November 5, 2016 (edited October 20, 2019)Just opened this one for the LSU/ALA game and it did not disappoint! The nose is everything you'd expect from a full bodied bourbon like Bookers. Sweet and nutty best describes the nose with lots of vanilla and brown sugar. The pallet is flooded with sweet vanilla and nuttiness, the back of the tongue brings a fruitiness and the pepper I love. The finish is as good as it gets. There's heat (duh!) and it lasts forever like a good bourbon should. Tasted neat in a neat glass, don't get no better! 👍 Paid $60. Super save Farmerville , LA. $56 -
Wild Turkey Diamond Anniversary Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed October 6, 2016 (edited November 15, 2016)Color is more mahogany, expected a richer color for the age. The nose is mild, I get sweet vanilla and caramel with a nice wood/corn under tone. The palette is just as mild and sweet as the nose with hints of wood and chocolate. The finish is long warm and peppery. Very smooth sipper and a great pour. Martin's $125 -
Rough Rider Happy Warrior Cask Strength Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Long Island , USA
Reviewed October 5, 2016 (edited April 24, 2018)Got a bottle as a gift from my son. The nose is kind of flat, although the 114 proof isn't as hot as you would think. The pallet is mildly sweet with a hint of the wine cask. Finish is spicy and satisfying. All in all it has a somewhat unique flavor profile that I like. Something tells me this one won't gather much dust! -
George T. Stagg Bourbon (Fall 2015)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 10, 2016 (edited October 9, 2016)This was my second pour at Chimes and did not disappoint. Despite the high proof, the nose was loaded with vanilla, brown sugar and the perfect amount of oak. I can't say enough about the nose, it is was wonderful. The mouth feel is just about as good as it gets, thick and chewy loaded with heat and pepper. Great bourbon. Paid $26, asked for a single pour, the sweetheart at the bar gave me a double +!! -
Eagle Rare 17 Year Bourbon (Fall 2014)
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 10, 2016 (edited November 29, 2020)Found a great bourbon bar at Chimes in Covington, LA. Best selection I've seen yet. Had a pour of this hard to find bourbon and enjoyed every sip. Great vanilla nose with a hint of char and oak. The mouth feel was thin, although the pallet was what you would expect from a premium bourbon. Sweet on the tip of the tung with vanilla and oak and finishing with a long satisfying spicy burn. Paid $26.
