Jefferson's Reserve Very Old Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 2, 2022 (edited April 7, 2022)Bought at Martins in Heritage Square (they had a single barrel pick, but I opted for the normal expression). Pours very nicely and is a lighter medium amber. Smell is very butterscotchy with pepper and caramel. Taste is butterscotch and subtle vanilla with mint, tobacco, and toffee peeking through. The finish is quite crisp with sweet honey and soft oak. Very good and complex! 4.2547.99 USD per Bottle -
Last pour from this bottle. Overall, a good whiskey, but not a good bourbon. A lot of green, young flavors that give hope to this one day being a good whiskey (with appropriate age), but at this point the herbal, woody, tangy flavors make this quite undesirable. Potential, but the Folks at Few have not had enough time to age this

Second tasting of the same bottle this time over a whiskey stone in a highball. Unfortunately, the flavors don’t change much and this remains pretty uneventful as a ‘dead’ flavored whiskey, but some of the nuttier caramels and vanilla buttercream come through. Rounded flavors, so guessing this is non-chill filtered. Better than entry-level whiskeys, but still underdeveloped.
