This is Knob creek 12 with a better nose and little less on the palate. The finish is similar. I get nuttiness with some caramel, vanilla and marshmallow. Wish the cherry from the nose would have come through, but that could be from proofing down. Id live to try this at a higher abv.

Still Austin Cask Strength Ethanol, Caramel, Oak, Butterscotch and Gingerbread on the nose – 6 –take short smells for this one, otherwise you only get ethanol Toffee, Butterscotch, Mint and Rye Spice on the Palate – 6 Same as the palate with added pepper spice on the finish – 6 Overall: 6 I wouldn’t buy this again or feel a need to keep it on the shelf

Ironroot Harbinger 115 Oka, Cherry and Vanillas on the nose, very inviting – 8 Rye Spice, citrus, oak and cinnamon on the palate – 6 Rye spice with undertones of oak, pepper, peppermint, very tannin-e – 7 Overall: 6.5 Long Finish, different, worth trying, but not keeping this on the shelf. I’d rather drink Smoke Wagon.

Graham Cracker, cherry, apple, caramel on the nose - 8 Palate mirrors the nose with some added raisin, pepper corn and cinnamon - 8 Finish is longer than most with strong cherry and oak with butterscotch and leather - 9 Overall: 8.5 I’m making sure this one is always on the shelf and is a fair stagg jr replacement

EH Taylor Small Batch Floral cornbread and marshmallow on the nose – 5 Vanilla, nuts, buttery and fresh oak that is oily on the palate – 9 Nuts and Oak on the finish that is short – 8 Overall: 8.5 Will be grabbing a bottle every time I see it at retail

Knob Creek 12 Year Nose Is soft oak and maple syrup, peanuts, marshmallow – 7 Peanuts, Cereal grain with peach and prune on the palate, caramel and marshmallows – 6 Leather, oak, nutty finish – 5 Overall: 6.6 Much better with ice or a little water, probably won’t buy again. This one takes a few sips. I’d rate closer to a 7.5 after a few sips, the first few are just too nutty. Ended up finishing the bottle, I’d probably try the 9 year single barrel before buying this again, but wouldn’t be opposed to it taking a spot up on the shelf.

Blanton’s Single Barrel Cherry, cinnamon, sweet corn with vanilla and spice on the nose – 9 Vanilla, Caramel, apple and pear on the palate – 6 Smooth finish followed by oak, cinnamon and nutmeg – 8 Overall: 8 Will be grabbing a bottle overtime I see it at retail

Weller Antique 107 Cinnamon, milk chocolate, caramel and oak on the nose – 9 Creamy caramel with cinnamon spice on the palate – 9 Oak with a growing spice on the finish – 10 Overall: 9 Will be grabbing a bottle overtime I see it at retail

Chattanooga 111 Corn, nutmeg and orange on the nose – 6 Strong corn with chocolate and pear with grassy spice on the palate – 6 Oak and corn on the finish – 6 Overall: 6 Worth a try, still working on a final verdict, young bourbon that has provided inconsistent tastings

Balcones True Blue Cask Strength Fossil Creek Single Barrel Pick Strong corn with some nutmeg and oak, corn turns slightly sweet toward corn bread the more you nose – 5 Cornbread, caramel and plum on the palate, not inviting at all – 4 Oak and corn ethanol on the finish – 4 Overall: 4 Provides 100% corn profile for comparisons, but will never buy again!
