Barrell Bourbon New Year 2020
Bourbon — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed April 5, 2021 (edited June 17, 2021)I am a huge fan of what BCS does. Their 2020 new year selection is no disappointment. It is strong in a butterscotch flavor, low heat, and little burn. It ends with a nutty butterscotch confectionery flavor. -
Joseph Magnus Triple Cask Finished Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (Finished and Bottled in Washington DC), USA
Reviewed April 5, 2021To celebrate Easter, my wife bought me a bottle of Joseph Magnus bourbon. On the nose it smelled strong of vanilla and fresh butterscotch. The palate was pleasantly spicey with a smooth vanilla and toffee flavor. The finish came with a dry citrus and dark cherry flavor. It has a sharp mouth feel, and is less oily than most I've tried. Overall, I like it and would buy this one again. I'll go back to it. -
Smoke Wagon Uncut Unfiltered Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed March 30, 2021 (edited April 11, 2021)Tonight I had the pleasure of trying Smokewagon Uncut Unfiltered. Immediately l notice an amber color to it that I'm not used to. On the palate It starts with a very strong dark fruit and dark chocolate flavor. This one has some pipe tobacco notes that bring about a heavier taste that I find unique. The finish is nice with a strong spice and cigar tobacco flavor. I like it. I can feel the burn in the 112 ish proof although it isn't overpowering. -
Barrell Dovetail (124.7 Proof)
Blended American Whiskey — USA
Reviewed March 25, 2021 (edited May 29, 2022)So, wow. I have found my favorite and it comes from Barrell Craft Spirits. Their Dovetail offering is amazing. It starts with a sweet molasses and dark cherry flavor that gives way to a stronger spice and oak char followed up with toasted marshmallow. I am loving the long spicey finish. Outstanding. -
Barrell Armida
Bourbon — Tennessee (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed March 17, 2021 (edited February 29, 2024)Tonight I'm trying another sample from Barrel Craft Spirits, Armida. This one is definitely different. Very heavy on the citrus front with a creamcicle flavor. The finish is a little nutty with a rye spice and a subtle pear rummyish flavor. I like this one quite a bit too. It definitely doesn't have a standard bourbon profile. Nice and smooth for a cask strength. It reminds me a little bit of brandy. -
To celebrate me passing a certification exam for work, I decided to crack open my Weller Antique 107. It comes at you with a cinnamon kick and a full mouthy burn. The vanilla and sweeter flavors are a bit muted while the spicy burn is strong in the long finish. I like it. But I like EHT and Eagle better.

Milam & Greene Distillery Edition Straight Bourbon (2020 Edition)
Bourbon — Texas, USA
Reviewed March 7, 2021 (edited November 20, 2022)Tonight's taste came from our friends at Milam & Greene. The single barrel 4 yr hits with a strong creamy vanilla flavor with a spicy after taste. Medium burn for a 118 proof. I like this one neat. -
Garrison Brothers HoneyDew
Flavored Whiskey — Texas, USA
Reviewed March 7, 2021 (edited February 8, 2023)So, to celebrate Friday, a friend and I tried this GB Honey infused bourbon. First taste was easy going: subtle apricot notes with a white chocolate whisp across the tongue. I didn't taste the honey until the second sip, and it remained subtle through the whole 3 oz pour. I didn't find it to be overly sweet. I agree with others on this one, it's an easy drinker and very calming. It had little to no burn, served neat.
