Tastes

Fantastic pour. Very sweet as a wheated bourbon. The nose is great with carmel and vanilla. On the palate I got brown sugar, carmel and vanilla notes with some cinnamon spice and oak. The finish is lasting and pleasant. Very smooth. One of the better bourbons I’ve tasted.

I opened my bottle last night and tasted this side by side with Rittenhouse. Sazerac has the typical rye notes on the nose. I got some citrus notes along with leather and the alcohol. The palate is similar to the nose. I tasted some orange along with the spicy rye notes. I thought it was a tad thin. It’s a good rye but not one I will go out of my way to find again. It’s scarce around here. Rittenhouse was a little more complex in my opinion. Both are good but are very different.

It tastes like a heath bar. So good! B517. 124 proof

I don’t remember anything that stood out with this bourbon. Just ok.

I liked Woodford when I tried a 2 oz pour. It is sweet and the oak is noticeable.

Herbal flavor on the palate. Almost a grassy taste. You can taste the rye but it’s not over the top. Very different from the bourbons I am used to.

Very sweet, wheated bourbon. I like it pretty well, and for the price it’s not a bad bourbon. More burn than you would expect given the proof.

Sweeter than I typically prefer but a solid starter bourbon.
