Hudson Whiskey Bright Lights, Big Bourbon
Bourbon — New York, USA
Reviewed August 20, 2022 (edited September 20, 2022)Pepper and cinnamon up front. A nice honey sweetness to it. Not the smoothest and has an odd botanical and citrus zest after taste like a gin. You can taste that it’s only 3 years old since it’s got quite a bite too it and little to zero wood notes. -
Town Branch Single Barrel Reserve Straight Rye Whiskey
Rye — Lexington, KY, USA
Reviewed August 12, 2022Best sipping rye I’ve had. Good on ice. Cinnamon, brown sugar, black pepper, and molasses. Spicy but not too much. -
Russell's Reserve 10 Year Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed July 9, 2022 (edited August 21, 2022)Second go at it letting it breathe for awhile first this time. Salted caramel on the nose. Very mellow and sweet, you can barely smell the alcohol. On the palate it’s smooth and the caramel comes through strong. Buttery with a dash of cinnamon. Just as good with ice, some pepper comes through. -
Thought I’d give this iconic juice another taste since the first time I was not too impressed. Bottles been open for a couple weeks now and I let breathe much longer this time. On the nose is brown sugar, rum, and toasted oak. Slight orange zest at first on the palate. Not nearly as much bite as the first time I tried it. Orange flavor holds on for a while. I get short bread and honey as well. Not any caramel at all which is rare. Letting it breathe has cut down on the burn substantially. Opens up and smooths out nicely with ice. The burn did not go away entirely but certainly much better than the first time.

Rabbit Hole Cavehill Kentucky Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed July 5, 2022 (edited July 17, 2022)I can see why someone might really like this it’s just not my favorite flavor profile. I get spicy cinnamon, black licorice, other dark baking spices. It’s certainly rich and complex that’s for sure.
