On the nose: Hints of toasted caramel and smoke On the palate: I get hints of toasted marshmallow and caramel, along with some smoked brown sugar. The finish: It’s got a nice, lasting burn. Caramel apple is the faint taste that was left in my mouth. Overall: Not bad. Maybe not as smooth as I would’ve liked it, but the flavor’s pretty decent!

Maker's Mark Wood Finishing Series 2022 BRT-02
Bourbon — Kentucky , USA
Reviewed January 10, 2023 (edited January 11, 2023)On the nose: Butterscotch and Caramel candies! On the palate: An amazingly creamy delight. I feel like I’m sipping a liquid Cadbury Crème egg! Butterscotch, Chocolate, and Graham Cracker excel here! The finish: Probably the best finish I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Like a campfire marshmallow with a hint of crème filled chocolate. There’s also a very feint of raspberry and blackberry after the immediate finish to have a nice addition of fruity flavor! Overall: Ranked as the best bourbon of 2022 by many, I can finally see what the appeal is of this one. An amazing bourbon, through and through. -
George Remus Straight Bourbon Whiskey
Bourbon — Indiana, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2023 (edited January 11, 2023)On the nose: I get toasted marshmallow with hints of honey, vanilla, and caramel On the palate: A nice light toasted caramel flavor with hints of green apple and citrus. The finish: the best part. The citrus is just enough to combine with this sweet bourbon to create an old fashioned type of aftertaste. Overall: great stuff! Will be trying this again soon! -
On the nose: I get strong notes of pepper and corn On the palate: a Nice smoky brown sugar taste with a hint of sweet corn and Salted Caramel Finish: faint chocolate but and brown sugar and possibly salted caramel. Overall: This is a lot better than the standard Jim Beam. Extra Aged and well worth it! Probably great for mixing but pretty good on its own!

On the nose: I got scents of lemon and citrus! On the palate: The lemon makes its exit while the lime makes its entrance, and the citrus tropical taste remains resent Finish: The citrus and lime remain with a strong hint of … pineapple? A surprise to be sure but a welcome one. Overall: A very popular mixing vodka, and a very good one at that, one that lends itself well to tropical-inspired cocktails

Bulleit Rye
Rye — Indiana (bottled in Kentucky), USA
Reviewed January 1, 2023 (edited January 6, 2023)On the nose: very strong peppery tobacco On the palate: peppery tobacco with hints of lemon and pecan. Ask me five years ago, I would not have liked this flavor, but now, it’s not too shabby Finish: A little salt and peppery with hints of tobacco and spice Overall: While it’s not my favorite flavor, it’s a solid whiskey and something I would maybe return to after a while -
On the nose: I didn’t get much, maybe a faint citrus or cherry flavor? On the palate: Strong caramelized apple flavor with a sprinkling of black cherry on top Finish: I got somewhat of a faint but sweet finish, with themes of cinnamon and chocolate. Overall: while the scent and finish are nothing to write home about, the flavor is awesome, and is perfect for the winter holiday times!!

Usually my go-to for mixers, but I decided to try some on its own for fun. On the nose: woody aromas with faint, FAINT hints honey, vanilla, pecan, and possibly banana? On the palate: Black pepper was very front-heavy, with honey and caramel occupying the back-end, though it’s a bit too faint for my fancy. Finish: I got hints of salt. Not bad, but not distinct or profound enough for me. Overall: a fairly smooth bourbon that I’d stick with mostly as a cocktail bourbon. I bet this is pretty good in a casual Old Fashioned, but if you’re looking for options to sip on, you’re probably better off looking elsewhere.
