Nose: brown sugar, slight spice, oak, vanilla, slight citrus Palate: more sweet wheat, slight burn, raisin or other dark fruit, balanced Finish: very smooth for the moderate proof

This was a store pick from Cox’s Spirit Shoppe, Louisville, 2018. Barrel #3085, Rickhouse O, Floor 5 Nose: orange, spices, corn, leather Palate: baking spices Finish: medium, quite smooth for a 110 proof, more spices maybe cinnamon I actually like 101 more overall (4*) but this is an interesting branch of the WT family.

Nose: banana, vanilla, oak, corn; palate: caramel, toffee, light oak but not much to be honest, little barley, slight cinnamon, touch of maple syrup; very smooth finish

Cherry and oak on the nose, toffee and cinnamon palate, medium finish that’s smooth and oily.

Single barrel WW&L (Louisville) Store pick: Nose- standard butterscotch and light sugars of BT’s mash bill #1, slight fruit close to a raisin; palate- nuts and citrus; short finish but balanced.

Best of the Old Forester/Woodford offerings. Vanilla, honey, butterscotch and sweet oak on the nose. A little spice and brown sugar on the palate, and for a non-wheated bourbon it’s sweet and smooth on the finish. If Weller 12 and Woodford double oaked had a baby, this is it.

A reliable staple. Oak, vanilla, sweet corn nose; hint of butterscotch on the palate; consistent finish, not too long or too short.

Nutty and toasted, butterscotch and other toffee sugars. Solid easy to find pour. There’s a reason Julian V. Winkle III said this is an easy to find sipper for Pappy lovers.

A gateway bourbon in my opinion. Light, toasty, butterscotch, crisp. Simple. Neat.
