Nose: sweet worn leather, a more refined heaven hill/evan williams nutty aroma, butterscotch and dark fruit Palate: slight vanilla but mostly baking spices Finish: smooth and simple Consistent. Reliable bourbon. Some of the other Heaven Hill basics like the HH bottled in bond, 6-year, and Evan Williams single barrel are more raw and interesting sometimes but EC is the standard.

Bottle opened for about a month and it’s fairing better. Cox/Evergreen store pick (Louisville) 125 proof Nose: Sweet fruits, reminds me of dark cherries or raisins, some oak sugars...slight citrus on subsequent nosings Palate: rich and a moderate amount of spice, slight nuttiness Finish: medium finish, some Kentucky hug, but smooth overall This OESV is just fantastic.

Nose: slightly briny but sweet on the nose Palate: cinnamon and fruit sweets, less spice on the taste actually especially for a straight rye Finish: medium and nice.

Nose: one of the best noses in bourbon. Sweet oak, raisins and other dark fruits. Palate: spicy fruit but a little tart... some smoky-ness like from a bbq- joint. Finish: sweet cola, citrus, quick finish. Slight rye kick but quite smooth

Nose: sweet corn and peanuts first from the aroma Palate: more sweet but spicy toffee Finish: smooth and little burn. Rivals the Evan Williams bottled in bond and even single barrel (more recent vintages 2010+) in my opinion for taste at this price point. Of course it’s quite a bit cheaper than EWSB and has a bit more rye coming forward especially on the finish.

Nose: almonds, honey, leather Palate: vanilla and spice, rich & oily mouthfeel. Very complex for a NAS Finish: zesty and a little spicy on the finish, medium warmth and decent length to the finish. Just a fantastic all-around bourbon.

This is a 2010 vintage, aged eight years. Nose: dried fruits and nuts Palate: muted flavors but smooth ... vanilla and spices Finish: longer than expected considering the proof and the mouthfeel. Lots of warmth here

Nose: almonds and oak sugars ... occasional dark chocolate Palate: spicy cinnamon and butterscotch Finish: balanced but short. Slight hug Consistent and my favorite amongst the mid range BT #1 mashbill.

One of the best whiskey values period — at retail. Honey and oak with some vanilla on the nose. Dark fruit as well. That sweet leather smell comes out too. Sweet zesty palate with some butterscotch. Easy finish, slight warmth. One of the best, most consistent bourbons on the shelf.
