Westland Peated American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed March 23, 2016 (edited May 8, 2017)Bright, with a gentle peatiness that lightens up the whiskey and accentuates the cocoa and fruitiness going on underneath. A great peated American single malt, not trying too hard to follow in Scotch's footsteps with broad-stroke peat and maltiness. It handles these very traditional flavors with nuance and finesse. -
Westland Sherry Wood American Single Malt
American Single Malt — Washington , USA
Reviewed March 23, 2016 (edited May 8, 2017)The first thing that came to mind with this whiskey was white chocolate covered raisins. More chocolatey than its predecessor, with a really well-implemented frutiness, as to be expected with the aging in the sherry casks. Another really great whiskey from this distillery,. Can't recommend it highly enough. -

Westland Single Cask Release #50
American Single Malt — Washington, USA
Reviewed March 21, 2016 (edited May 8, 2017)Sweet and buttery, with a pleasantly unctuous texture. Nice firm barley backbone on this one, with all the better aspects of a traditional bourbon. -
Tart fruit on the nose for this fella; Granny Smith apples, white grapes, and shades of maltiness. More fruit on the palate, accompaned by cereal grains and the flavor and texture of warm honey. Finished with a creamy citric bite and a spiciness reminiscent of well... ginger. There. I said it. Not the most compex dram in the world. But for $20, this is just right.

Reminiscent of tequila or a white dog whiskey on the nose. The palate on this is truly bizarre (in a good way). It was a real treat not to be greeted by the typical triad of American whiskey flavors with this puppy. The first thing that came to mind with this whiskey was super-ripe mulberries. The barley/corn combination here tastes like nothing I've yet tried. The flavors pull in several directions, like two evenly-matched players of tug-of-war. With every sip more complexity unfolds with this whiskey. If this is the oddball direction in which American whiskey is slowly chugging, chug on.
