Auchentoshan American Oak
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed January 25, 2016 (edited March 11, 2016)A great gateway scotch for avid bourbon enthusiasts afraid of taking their first steps into the scotch world. The vanilla sweetness of a bourbon with the smokey bite of a scotch. -
Burnside Oregon Oaked Bourbon
Bourbon — Oregon, USA
Reviewed January 25, 2016 (edited March 11, 2016)More sweetness and vanilla than its counterpart (the 4 year) with some tannins to give it some sharpness. A very buttery texture, indicative of the second barrelling. The fruitiness present in the 4-year takes a few steps forward in this one. Still a little lighter and sweeter than what I prefer, with a chemical heat on the finish that I'm nt necessarily jumping for joy over. Still a more-than-decent bottle, just with a less-than-decent price. -
Benchmark No. 8 Bourbon
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 25, 2016 (edited December 17, 2016)Great bang-for-buck ratio here. Good enough to sip, cheap enough to mix without shedding a tear. I keep this puppy in my personal bar at all times.
