On the nose, burnt brown sugar, baking spices, rye sharpness, and creamy vanilla. But on the palate, warm vanilla and dark toffee notes abound. Lots of heat and after burn from the high rye mash bill and higher proof. A little ice softens some of the burn, but also mellows the vanilla leaving mostly pepper and sweet notes behind.

Reviewed May 24, 2022 (edited December 6, 2022)Similar to the 7 year, but more dark red fruit flavors mixed with the smoke. Raspberries and blackberries. But still like a bottle left by a camp fire all night.
