Tastes

On the nose, burnt brown sugar, baking spices, rye sharpness, and creamy vanilla. But on the palate, warm vanilla and dark toffee notes abound. Lots of heat and after burn from the high rye mash bill and higher proof. A little ice softens some of the burn, but also mellows the vanilla leaving mostly pepper and sweet notes behind.

On the nose honey, pear, granny smith apple, sweet grass. On the palate, honey sweetness with underlying pepper spice. Fades quickly but smooth and easy drinking with fig newton flavors. Not bad for a daily, nothing super special but the price is right.

On the nose, ethanol banana crème brûlée. The rum notes pop out and remind me of the carribean. On the palette, more softened citrus and banana. Spicy notes and light burn. Overall tasty and unique.

Some floral on the nose, but brown butter, caramel, and brown sugar on the palette. Little burn, simple and not overly complex. A nice after dinner dram.

Vanilla bean, cream, a touch of clove, maybe a little coconut. As someone else mentioned, it does taste like the island. Not overly complex, has a short finish, but quite nice as a neat pour.

Slightly sweet, vanilla, and burnt sugar. Smoothed out nicely with a single ice cube.

Similar to the 7 year, but more dark red fruit flavors mixed with the smoke. Raspberries and blackberries. But still like a bottle left by a camp fire all night.

Sharp, smokey, oak, just a small touch of sweet cream. Very much like a toasted marshmallow from a wood fire.

For the price, this is incredible. It’s toasted banana bread with butter. It’s a budget weller. It is a sweeter bourbon, but darn tasty as a daily sipper.
