Laphroaig 10 Year Cask Strength (Batch 11)
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed January 23, 2020 (edited April 29, 2020)Fantastic stuff. Deeper and richer than the regular 10 year. Lots of salted and smoked meats on the nose and palate, of course with a fair serving of peat and a smooth finish. Strong stuff, but I’m really enjoying it neat. Adding a little water is also a great option; it really opens up notes of seaweed on the nose and a buttery sweetness on the palate. -
Blanton's Original Single Barrel
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed May 23, 2019 (edited May 27, 2019)I’ll be honest, this was good but a bit underwhelming. Highly agree with everyone who says to only get it if it’s cheap. Nose is mostly fruit and caramel with a little alcohol burn, taste is inoffensive with notes of leather and wood, finish is middle of the road with nothing particularly standout. This is really what I’d consider a standard, almost archetypical bourbon. It doesn’t do anything particularly unique in any way. I like it, I’ll drink it, I’ll buy it if it’s cheap; but I won’t go hunting for it.11.75 USD per Pour -
Wonderful stuff. Nose is heavy on banana, sugar, graham cracker. Smells like a banana cream pie or bananas foster. I don’t get much peat here. Palate has peat and smoke, though it’s balanced nicely with the sweetness. Not very fruity. Earth, old leather, and oak. Finish starts sweet with more banana and rum, though it quickly fades. Not much burn. Heard described as a dusting of dark chocolate and I highly agree. Very much recommend.

George Dickel TABASCO Brand Barrel Finish
Flavored Whiskey — Tennessee, USA
Reviewed February 27, 2019 (edited December 10, 2019)Definitely a bit strange. The nose has notes of cayenne and caramel, as well as definitely a bit more of an alcohol burn than I expected. Not very spicy on the palate as you sip it, but after swallowing a bit of a Tabasco burn shows up on the tongue. A very sweet finish, almost like some kind of citrus. Overall not too bad for what seems like a gimmick on the surface.
