Rabbit Hole Dareringer Straight Bourbon Finished in PX Sherry Casks
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed December 15, 2022Wow! Now that's a damn good bourbon. Bold and complex, with not too much fire. Bit pricey for being a regular sipper, but interesting enough to be good for houseguests. -
Don't actually drink this by itself. It tastes like cherry pits and cherrywood. Best used by the quarter ounce in cocktails - I treat it like bitters. Luxardo makes for a great old fashioned, especially when paired with actual Luxardo cherries (which are fantastic and should be in every liquor cabinet). Use a bit of the syrup from the cherry jar, because the woodiness of the Luxardo liqueur makes it effectively dry (even though it's actually quite sweet already).

Didn't read the label right when I bought it and thought is was a whiskey-y cider. It is actually a cider-y whiskey. Oops. No wonder I couldn't find it on Untapped. It's not actually good at being either, though. On the whiskey side it's a boring and safe blend with nothing going on, and on the cider side it tastes like fructose, malic acid, and cinnamon. At least it isn't bad?
