Edradour The Fairy Flag 15 Year
Single Malt — Highlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 23, 2017 (edited November 12, 2017)Dried fruit, toasted cereal and light smoke on the nose. Medium bodied, with apples, honey, and fresh oak spices on the palate. The finish is fruity and of medium length, with a pleasant cinnamon aftertaste. Overall a respectable dram, but a bit uninspiring and overpriced for what it delivers ($156 CAD). Worth trying, but not worth buying for me. -

Tullibardine The Murray

Reviewed October 19, 2017 (edited December 29, 2022)Fragrant nose, with wine must, black pepper, vanilla, and cantaloupe coming through before you take your first sip. Medium bodied, with fresh grapes and citrus notes over the palate. The finish is long, spicy and fairly smooth, even at 56.1% ABV. Overall a complex and delicious dram. -

Reviewed October 18, 2017 (edited May 24, 2018)Fresh cut grass, beeswax and lumberwood on the nose. Lemon zest, ginger, and peppery oak spice on the palate. Considerably sour and bitter finish of medium length. Unfortunately, I found this whisky to be unbalanced and unpleasant to drink. -

Reviewed October 16, 2017 (edited May 24, 2018)Light peat smoke and fresh mint on the nose. Medium bodied, with toffee, lemon rind, nutmeg, and black pepper on the palate. Medium length finish. Despite its complexity, the combination of flavours in this whisky were a little weird for me. -

Glenkinchie 1991 24 Year (2016 Special Release)
Single Malt — Lowlands, Scotland
Reviewed October 15, 2017 (edited October 16, 2017)Predominantly floral, with some hints of brown sugar, but otherwise an underwhelming nose. Warm and oily mouthful, with toffee, wine must, candied apple and citrus notes on the palate. The finish is remarkably short. Uninspired and disappointing considering the age and price of this bottling ($600 CAD).
