Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed September 13, 2017 (edited September 19, 2017)Seaweeds, cereal and vanilla on the nose. Orchard fruit, salt-sprinkled honey and lemonpeel on the palate. The finish is short and a little bit bitter. At first, I found the combination of flavours in this unpeated Islay whisky strange, but it is definitely a good dram and worth a try. -
Fairly peated, with campfire smoke, brine and leathery notes on the nose. Big, warm, and robust mouthful with a delicious combination of sweet and saltiness. Following suit, a bold medley of tobacco, ash, tar, stone fruit, black pepper and cinnamon follow on the palate. The finish is long, smoky and lingers on with a pleasantly sweet aftertaste. Simply fantastic.

Light, smooth and silky mouthful, with hazelnut, coffee, and malt on the palate. Fairly long and oaky finish, with an unfortunate bitter aftertaste. Overall an oak-heavy dram that did not come together as well as I had hoped. -
