Tasting Methodology: Neat in a Canadian Glencarin class. Rested 10 minutes. Nose: old Band-Aids. Crisp green apple Mouthfeel: wispy smoke. White pepper. Vanilla smooth Palate: impedance matched to my tongue - aka smooth Finish: gentle pepper Rating: 9/10 Price paid: $60 Value rating: 9/10 Notes: like a sweeter mellower quarter cask

Tasting Methodology: Neat in a Canadian Glencarin class. Rested 10 minutes. Nose: Sweet. Crimson lipstick. -> resting Cellar wood. Mouthfeel: Dry neutral-density. Impedance matched to my tongue. Smooth - no perceivable burn. Palate: dusky peat, dry bursting sweetness. A drop of iodine. Finish: Dry driftwood. No burn. Note: wow. This is a sweet whisky, but the peat completely cancels it out. The sweet registers as a ‘pressure’/mouthfeel than a taste. Woodier in a dry way (vs triple wood was fresh wet campfire woody). 

I enjoy this more than laphroaig 10 year. Rating: 10/10 Price paid: $80 Value rating: 8/10.

Finish: Ash crested, wet moss. Rating: 8/10 - like a whiskied sherry vs a sherried whisky. Price paid: $80 Value rating: 7/10

One-dimensional whiskey with coconut . This was a complete miss

Nose: French vanilla  Mouthfeel: Supple wave of smattering piranha bites Palate: caramel chocolate front, suede, hint of juicy green grape vesicle. Finish: crisp apple peel, lingering bite. Burnt candy. Rating: it’s nice, very nice 9/10 Price paid: $50 Value rating: 10/10

Tasting Methodology: Neat in a Canadian Glencarin class. Rested 10 minutes. Nose: Ants, formic acid. Burnt maple syrup. Mouthfeel: Heavy, spicy bite. Spicy. Palate: Maple syrup, butterscotch, apple peel finish. Light leather. Delicious bourbon with a bit of kick. Overall rating: I like it for drinking neat.

Tasting Methodology: Neat in a Canadian Glencarin class. Rested 10 minutes. Nose: Musky old wood on the nose. Sandalwood. Mouthfeel: Incredible. Perfectly balanced (neither wet/rich nor astringent) - soft supple mouthfeel. Sherry. Palate: Dry musky wood. Straw finish. Empty sweetness, souless.
 Strengths: mouthfeel Weaknesses: lack of soul/character on palate. Wonderful smoky whisky for mixing, but not complex enough to be enjoyed neat IMHO. Overall rating: I like it for a peaty themed drink. 

I much prefer the Corryvreckan.

Vanilla coffee on the nose. Leathery smooth. Supple mouthfeel. Slow burn.
