Bruichladdich The Classic Laddie
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed March 20, 2021 (edited March 21, 2021)A couple drops of water bring out some more nuance. Before doing so, not too many distinguishing notes. No noticeable sweeter vanilla/oak that’s found in similar whiskys it’s mostly a pleasant burn but not much else. Decent but nothing special.Paris -
Camus VSOP Intensely Aromatic
Cognac — Cognac, France
Reviewed February 4, 2021 (edited October 21, 2021)Very fruit forward, strong hints of baked apple and cinnamon. Vanilla finish and a nice controlled burn. A great way to finish a meal and an approachable price point. Independently owned to boot44.0 EUR per BottleParis -
I’m a huge fan of the 10 and was looking forward to trying a version with more cask contact. However, it lacked a lot of the complexity that makes the 10 such a favorite. Strong single notes of peat and burn without the smooth salt water, seaweed, vanilla undertones. Still a solid dram but doesn’t deserve the higher price tag

Lagavulin 16 Year
Single Malt — Islay, Scotland
Reviewed December 25, 2020 (edited December 26, 2020)Smoke and peat as expected. Doesn’t distinguish itself from the cheaper Laphroaig 10 in my opinion and gets knocks for this.
