Reviewed January 23, 2021 (edited March 24, 2021)-Nose - cherry, brown sugar -Taste - nice kick, slight sweetness, banana, slight smokiness, cherry, chocolate, raisin, water/ice brings out nuttiness -Finish - looooong, warm, spices, char, nuttiness and raisins on the exhale -Overall - delightful, it has bite without being overwhelming, and the flavors are complex enough to shine through the high proof, this bottle is worth it -
Baker's Single Barrel Bourbon 7 Year
Bourbon — Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 23, 2021 (edited March 25, 2021)-Nose - brown sugar, cherry, mint -Taste - quick bite, cherry, spices, bread -Finish - dark fruit, light oak, long warmth -Overall - it’s good, but not memorable, a little water opened up the flavors a bit, probably not worth the price65.0 USD per Bottle -
Barrell Dovetail (122.9 Proof)
Blended American Whiskey — (bottled in) Kentucky, USA
Reviewed January 10, 2021 (edited February 28, 2021)Mine is the 123.8 proof version. -Nose - rum, cherry, oak, slight burn -Taste - oily mouthfeel, quick heat, apple brandy, burnt caramel, later sips introduced a honey sweetness -Finish - medium warmth, port, oak, slight tannins linger from the cab This got better with every sip. At first the finish reminded me too much of a dry cab (not my style), but that gave way to a more nuanced blend of the port sweetness, cab dryness, and classic bourbon oak. -
Smoke Wagon Small Batch Straight Bourbon
Bourbon — Indiana (bottled in Nevada), USA
Reviewed January 9, 2021-Nose - cherry, brown sugar, spices, oak -Taste - smooth, sweet on the front, then gives way to smoke and oak -Finish - nice mellow warmth, the smoke and oak are faint, but linger for a long time, quite lovely -
Stranahan's Colorado Whiskey (Discontinued)
American Single Malt — Colorado, USA
Reviewed December 21, 2020I liked this more than expected. Not a single malt person, but this was like a smooth scotch without the peat or heavy smoke. I’d say there’s a bit of honey upfront that gives way to a toasted oak. -
This was very different. Sweet caramel on the nose, but on the palate the oak hits hard and lingers with a mild burn. Perhaps a bit of caramel/brown sugar and baking spices. Certainly not as sweet as most I’ve had lately. More herbal with a dry finish. Interesting enough that I might grab a bottle to mix it up. Got this as a sample through Flaviar.

Nose - brown sugar, baking spices, slight citrus zest Taste - almost watery at first, mellow burn, molasses, pecans, more brown sugar, pepper Finish - clean, the pepper lingers a bit, gives way to burnt caramel Overall - I got a sample through Flaviar, it’s a fairly basic bourbon, easy to drink, but not something I’d seek out
-
Nose - light oak, spice, vanilla, red fruit Taste - caramel, vanilla, cherry, so smooth Finish - long, warm, mild spice Overall - Fair value, very drinkable, cool bottle, worth having around, I’d pull this out to impress non-whiskey drinkers with an approachable option that looks expensive1340 Beer Wine Spirits

Nose - cherry, sweet corn, caramel Taste - slight burn, cherry again, raisin, caramel/brown sugar, light oak Finish - lingering warmth that carries through the cherry and leaves a nice oak flavor through the exhale Overall - Great value. Easy drinker. This is one I’ll always have on the shelf.28.0 USD per BottleChicago
