Rhum Barbancourt 5 Star 8 Year
Rhum Agricole Vieux — Haiti
Reviewed January 31, 2018 (edited February 16, 2019)I really like this rum a lot. It has the grassy funk of an agricole with pleasant sweet notes of banana and molasses. I enjoy this one both neat and in cocktails. Try it in a simple pina colada - rhum, coconut cream, fresh pineapple juice shaken with ice and strained into a rocks glass over ice. Also nice when used in a Mai Tai paired with Appleton 12 year.35.0 USD per Bottle -
Stores in my area can't keep these bottles on the shelf. So I finally bought a bottle late 2017 to see what the hype was all about, and honestly was underwhelmed. To me this is the most overrated bourbon out there. The nose and palate are quite muted and boring. Maybe my batch was a bad one, I don't know. Eagle Rare 10 Year is a much better buy, in my opinion.
