Rhum Barbancourt 5 Star
Rhum Agricole Vieux
Barbancourt // Haiti
Barbancourt 5 Star spends 8 years in French Limousin oak casks. Compared directly to its younger sibling, 3 Star, it's certainly more amplified, with heartier, deeper flavors, and is more popular globally than domestically in Haiti. As with the entire Barbancourt lineup, it's made from sugarcane juice and double distilled.
Rhum Agricole VieuxRhum distilled from fresh sugarcane juice that has been aged in oak in barrels not to exceed 650 liters. In Martinique, aging requirements are at least 3 years for a VO designation, 4 years for VSOP, 6 for XO, and at least 6 for vintage rhums. Hors d'age is aged between 8-12 years.
"Barbancourt 5 Star is definitely a rum meant for sipping. There's an oaky spice, pepper and wood on the nose, hints of a rich caramel and vanilla in the background. On the palate, find dry oaky notes, vanilla, molasses and cane sugar; its agricole nature shining. On a long finish, find more oak and spice, and a hearty molasses undertone."
